About Sesshin
Trained spiritual care for people in real moments — regardless of background, belief, or tradition
Our Mission
Sesshin exists to make spiritual and emotional care accessible to anyone, anywhere — especially in the moments when it's hardest to find.
Traditional chaplaincy is often limited to hospitals and institutions. Therapy addresses mental health, but not always questions of meaning, grief, or belonging. Religious communities can be inaccessible or unfamiliar. Sesshin was built to fill the space between — available when you need it, matched to who you are.
Our providers are certified chaplains, spiritual directors, and trained listeners from diverse backgrounds. They're here to listen without judgment, to follow your lead, and to offer grounded presence — whatever you're carrying.
All providers are vetted, trained, and held to professional standards. All sessions are fully confidential.
Sesshin is a platform for real human connection — for people who need to be heard and providers who know how to listen. Whether you're in grief, seeking spiritual grounding, or simply carrying something too heavy to hold alone, we're here to help you find the right person at the right time.
Our Core Values
Compassion
We lead with empathy and understanding, meeting people exactly where they are without judgment.
Accessibility

All our providers are certified professionals committed to the highest standards of care.
Innovation
We use technology thoughtfully to make spiritual care more accessible and effective.
Our Story
Sesshin was born from a simple observation: in difficult moments, people often struggle to find spiritual and emotional support. Traditional chaplaincy is tied to institutions. Therapy addresses mental health — but not always questions without a clinical answer. Religious communities can be unfamiliar, far away, or simply not the right fit.
Our founders — chaplains and technologists — came together to change that. They imagined a world where anyone could connect with a trained spiritual care provider, from anywhere, at any time.
Since launch, we've helped thousands of people find comfort, clarity, and presence during their most difficult moments. Our provider community spans chaplains, spiritual directors, and trained listeners from diverse backgrounds and traditions.
We're still growing, still learning — and always guided by one purpose: making real spiritual care available to everyone who needs it.
Why Sesshin Exists
The Gap We Saw
In moments of grief, confusion, spiritual searching, or simply profound loneliness, people reach for connection — and too often find nothing available to them. Traditional chaplaincy is institution-bound. Therapy addresses mental health, but not always the questions that have no clinical answer. Religious communities can be inaccessible, unfamiliar, or simply too far away.
Sesshin was built to occupy the space in between: present, trained, culturally grounded, and available.
What We Believe
- Everyone deserves access to spiritual and emotional care regardless of background
- Culture, language, and lived experience shape how we receive support
- Presence itself is a form of care — even without answers
- Providers should be compensated fairly for their skill and time
- Technology should serve human connection, not replace it
How Sesshin Is Different
Not Therapy. Not Religion.
Sesshin providers are not here to diagnose, treat, or convert. They are here to be present with you in whatever you are carrying — spiritually, existentially, or emotionally — without an agenda beyond your wellbeing.
Where therapy explores the psychological, and religion offers a specific framework of meaning, Sesshin offers grounded presence within your own worldview.
Matched to What Matters
We match by language, cultural background, spiritual tradition, approach, and lived experience — because how support is offered matters as much as the support itself.
You can filter by what feels important to you, and switch providers at any time. There is no "correct" fit — only the fit that works for you.
What a Session Feels Like
Sessions are not structured consultations. They are conversations — unhurried, non-judgmental, and held with care.
You might talk about something that happened. You might need silence. You might ask questions about meaning, faith, or what comes next. You might just need someone to listen without trying to fix anything. All of this is welcome.
Providers bring their training and their presence — not their opinions about what you should believe or do. They follow your lead. Sessions are available via video, phone, or text-based chat.
There is nothing you have to say, do, or believe to deserve this kind of care.

Safety Limits
