Terms of Service
Last updated: February 10, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Sesshin, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
Description of Service
Sesshin provides a platform connecting users with certified spiritual care providers for emotional and spiritual support. Our services include scheduled sessions, spiritual support, and ongoing guidance.
User Responsibilities
As a user, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account
- Use the service in accordance with all applicable laws
- Treat providers with respect and professionalism
Limitations of Service
Sesshin is not a mental health emergency service or emergency medical service. In case of emergency, please call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.
Cancellation and Refunds
Sessions can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Refunds for cancellations within 24 hours are at the discretion of the provider.
Confidentiality
Last updated: February 10, 2026
Our Core Commitment
What you share in a Sesshin session stays in that session. All providers are bound by a strict confidentiality agreement and professional ethical codes. Session content is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or disclosed without your explicit consent.
What Confidentiality Means
Providers will not disclose the content of your sessions to anyone — including family members, employers, or other organisations — without your written consent. All communications on the Sesshin platform are encrypted.
Limits of Confidentiality
There are limited circumstances in which a provider may be required to break confidentiality. These include situations where:
- There is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others
- There is a disclosure of abuse of a child or vulnerable adult
- A court order requires disclosure
Where possible, providers will inform you before breaking confidentiality, except where doing so would increase risk. These limits are consistent with professional ethical standards in spiritual care and counselling.
Safety Limits
Sesshin Is Not an Emergency Service
Sesshin providers are trained in spiritual care and emotional support — not emergency intervention. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. For mental health needs, contact the local mental health services (call or text 988).
If a provider believes you are at risk of harm to yourself or others, they are trained to compassionately guide you toward appropriate emergency or clinical resources. Sesshin sessions will not continue if a user is in need of emergency intervention.
Provider Conduct
All Sesshin providers agree to and are held to the following standards:
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times
- Never impose beliefs, frameworks, or unsolicited advice
- Disclose any conflicts of interest prior to sessions
- Refer clients to appropriate services when outside their scope
- Conduct sessions only through the Sesshin platform
- Maintain ongoing training and supervision as required by Sesshin
- Report any safety concerns through Sesshin's internal reporting process
Violations of the Provider Code of Conduct may result in immediate suspension from the platform. Users can report concerns at any time through the platform or by emailing [email protected].
